
Greene and Yanoski lead women’s golf to second place

Mohnton, Pa. – Junior Danielle Greene shot an 8-over 80 while freshman Hannah Yanoski recorded a 9-over 81 to help the Millersville women's golf team capture second place in the Alvernia Fall Golf Invitational Tuesday afternoon.
The Marauders played at Ledge Rock Golf Club where Alvernia University hosted the tournament. Ledge Rock featured a par 72 course that played 5,814 yards.
Millersville totaled a 343 in the event, coming up short of Kutztown University, which came in 20 strokes lower than the Marauders. Kutztown had all of its golfers finish in the top nine to earn the victory.
Greene tied for third place which included a 1-over 37 on the front nine and a birdie on the par 5 8th.
Yanoski scored a 40 on the front nine and a stroke higher in the back nine to put herself in outright sixth place. Yanoski also recorded a birdie on the par 4 6th.
With two birdies in her round, sophomore Joelie Bennett assembled a 19-over 91 with a 6-over 42 in the front nine. She placed in a tie for 11th. Bennett opened the round by going 1-under through three holes but could not keep that streak going.
Freshman Belle Keopraseut finished her round with the same score as Bennett to tie for 11th place. Senior Alexa Strong shot a 101 to take 22nd place.
Host Alvernia University's Emily Gilbert won the low medalist by scoring a 6-over 78. Kuztown's Caity Leppert was a shot off Gilbert.
The Marauders play in the Eastern Invitational on Monday, Oct. 16 before participating in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championship.
