
Sheehan and Anders tie for first at Mercyhurst

Erie, Pennsylvania -- The Millersville men's golf team finished second at the Mercyhurst Fall Invitational after Connor Sheehan and Rodney Anders tied for first place, and the rest of the team finished in the top half of 88 golfers Monday.
Sheehan won the tiebreaker playoff against Anders and Clarion Univeristy's Loren Dukate.
Sheehan posted his second first-place finish in as many weeks. The junior shot 2-under-par for a score of 70 during the first round. He finished his second round 4-over-par for a score of 76. Sheehan finished the tournament 2-over-par overall.
Anders posted his second top-2 finish within a week. The redshirt senior shot even par for a score of 72 during the first round. He shot 2-over-par in the second round for a score of 74. Anders finished the tournament 2-over-par overall.
Mitchell Burns posted his second top-25 finish within a week. The junior shot 5-over par for a score of 77 during the first round. He shot 6-over-par for a score of 78 during the second round. Burns finished the tournament tied for 22nd with an overall score of 11-over-par.
Bret Howey tied for 31st for the second time in a week. The junior shot 7-over-par for a score of 79 in each round. He finished the tournament 14-over-par.
Matt Spak shot 8-over-par during the first round and shot 10-over par during the second round. The sophomore finished the tournament 18-over-par tied for 41st.
Corey Betham competed independent of the Marauders' five-man roster. The redshirt junior shot 8-over-par in the first round and 7-over-par in the second round. He finished tied for 36th with an overall score of 17-over-par.
The Marauders finished six shots behind first place finisher and Pennsylvania State Atheltic Conference rival Mercyhurst University. PSAC rival West Chester University finished one shot behind the Marauders for a third place finish.
The Millersville men's golf team's next event is Oct. 2-3 at the Howard "Bud" Elwell Classic at the Whispering Woods Golf Club in Erie, Pa.
