Millersville, Pennsylvania – Rodney Anders' second place finish and Matt Spak's fifth-place finish led the Millersville men's golf team to a fourth-place team finish at the Hal Hansen Invitational.
Anders started fast, shooting 3-under-par for a score of 69 during the first round. The redshirt senior stumbled in the second round shooting 4-over-par for a score of 76. Anders finished three strokes behind Indiana University of Pennsylvania's Mike Hoare, but he finished two strokes ahead of the third-place finishers.
Spak experienced a similar tournament to Anders. The sophomore shot 2-under-par for a score of 70 during the first round. Spak regressed during the second round shooting 6-over par for a score of 78. Spak's overall score of 4-over-par still afforded him a share of fifth place with three other golfers.
Mitchell Burns shot 1-over par for a score of 73 in the first round. Like Anders and Spak, Burns ran into trouble in the second round shooting 10-over par for a score of 82. The junior tied for 22nd place with two other golfers with a score of 11-over-par in his first tournament of the season.
Evan Choy, also playing in his first tournament this season, joined Burns at the 22nd spot. Choy shot 9-over-par during the first round for a score of 81. The junior rallied and broke the trend set by his teammates during the second round. Choy shot 2-over-par to finish his second round with a score of 74.
Bret Howey was the final Marauder to make his debut this season at the tournament. The junior shot 12-over-par for a score of 84 in the first round. Howey shook the rust off in the second round and shot 2-over-par for a score of 74. He finished tied for 31st with a score of 14-over-par.
The Treasure Lake Silver Golf Club was not as kind to Connor Sheehan this weekend as the Cobb Course was last week. The reigning Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference men's golfer of the week posted an 80 during the first round and a 79 during the second round. The junior finished tied for 33rd with an overall score of 15-over-par.
PSAC rivals IUP and West Chester University finished ahead of the Marauders at second and third place respectively. The Marauders' fourth place finished provided their second top-half finish in a week.
