  GAME OVERVIEW
  • For the fourth year in a row, Kutztown awaits a nationally-ranked Millersville team. This time, though, the Golden Bears are ranked as well, coming in at No. 4 in the country while Millersville is No. 6. Kutztown is 4-0 after a thrilling overtime win over Mercyhurst. They have also managed to outscore opponents 15-4 on the season, allowing only 10 shots in the last two games. Kutztown is ranked third in the country in scoring margin, beating opponents by 2.74 goals a game; Millersville is ranked fifth, beating teams by an average of 2.25.
  • The Marauders are off to a 3-1 start with the lone loss coming to Stonehill on the road. With the exception of that game, Millersville has dominated opponents, outscoring them 11-0. Aliza Mizak and Kathleen Bishop have been particularly important assets with each registering three goals and an assist on the season. Mizak and Bishop's seven points rank them in the top 10 in the NCAA for points per game.
  • Millersville goalkeeper Sam Rumler and the defense have only allowed two goals in four games. The Marauders three shutouts rank them second in the country. The defense is so strong that Rumler was not even forced to make a save in the win over Slippery Rock. Rumler can expect some action on Saturday, as Kutztown attempted 18 shots in their last game and have a high-powered offense.
ABOUT THE SERIES
  • For a long period of time, Kutztown dominated the rivalry between these two PSAC squads, winning 18 games in a row over a 10 year span. Millersville turned the tide in 2012, winning the last six match-ups and only allowing two goals in the last four meetings, outscoring the Golden Bears 15-2 in that four year stretch. Over the past six years, Kutztown was ranked in the top 10 on three occasions and Millersville was ranked in the top 10 in all three of the last three meetings between these teams.
THE LAST MATCH-UP
  • In a battle between top-ranked Millersville and fourth-ranked Kutztown, the Marauders blew out the Golden Bears 4-1 (with Kutztown's goal coming as time expired). Aliza Mizak and Olivia Hershey each scored twice in the game to end Kutztown's eight game winning streak. Not only did they win 4-1, but Millersville outshot Kutztown 23-4 and had 24 penalty shots compared to Kutztown's four.
