
Sheehan takes first place at Glade Springs

Daniels, West Virginia -- Junior Connor Sheehan took first place out of 100 golfers at the Glade Springs Intercollegiate Championship and lead the Millersville men's golf team to an eighth place finish.
Sheehan started fast, posting a 73 in the first and second rounds. Sheehan stumbled in the third round posting a 76, but his consistent start negated the final round. He finished the tournament six-over-par and two strokes ahead of the second place golfer.
Sophomore Matt Spak tied for 30th with six other golfers. Spak finished his first round with an 81, but improved in the second and third rounds finishing with a 78 and 79. Spak finished with a total score of 22-over-par.
Junior Mitchell Burns tied for 45th with five other golfers. Burns finished with an 81 in his first two rounds before posting a 79 in his final round. Burns finished with a total score of 25-over-par.
As a team, Millersville finished eighth out of twenty teams. Six Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference teams competed in the tournament. West Chester University finished second, Mercyhurst University finished third, California University of Pennsylvania finished fourth, Clarion University finished 11th and Gannon College finished 14th.
The Millersville men's golf team's next event is Sept. 18-19 at the Hal Hansen Invitational in Clarion, Pa.
