
Women's golf team finishes eighth at the Michael Corbett Classic

Erie, Pennsylvania -- Danielle Greene's third place individual finish out of 93 golfers opened the way for the Millersville women's golf team second top-10 finish in four days at the Michael Corbett Fall Classic.
The sophomore ended the first round tied for 11th after shooting a 79. The sophomore rallied on the second day shooting a 75 and finishing tied for third place. Greene finished the tournament 10-over-par.
Senior Danielle Freed shot an 80 during the first round and an 83 during the second round. Freed finished 19-over-par and tied for 23rd.
As a team, Millersville posted a 340 in the first round, but cleaned up their play in the second round and posted a 333.
The Marauders tied for eighth with Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference rival Mercyhurst University. Out of the 17 competing teams in the tournament, eight of them were in the PSAC. Conference rivals Gannon University finished first, Kutztown University finished third, West Chester University finished seventh, Gannon's second team finished 12th, Seton Hill University finished 13th and Clarion University finished 16th.
The Millersville women's golf team's next event is the Ursinus Invitational on Sept. 27 in Pottstown, Pa. at the Raven's Claw Golf Club.
