GAME OVERVIEW
• Millersville softball rolls into the PSAC Tournament as the No. 3 seed from the PSAC East and had a 9-7 record within the conference during the regular season. The Marauders have outscored their opponents 192-151 and have hit .295 while holding opponents to a .280 average. Millersville will be making its first ever trip into the PSAC Tournament and have already surpassed their win total from a year ago under the direction of Jen Probst. The first and only time the softball program previously competed in postseason play was in 2006 when the Marauders competed in the NCAA Atlantic Regional Tournament and finished the season with a 30-21 record, which tied for the most wins in program history.
• The 2016 Softball Championship will be a double-elimination format and the preseason favorites from each division lived up to their billing, as California (West), Bloomsburg (Central), and West Chester (East) all earned No. 1 seeds. The Vulcans are looking for their third-straight PSAC Championship and enter the tournament as arguably the team to beat.
• For Slippery Rock, it marks the first time since 2009 that The Rock clinched a berth into the postseason tournament. They rank in the middle of the PSAC in most offensive and pitching categories. The Rock is sixth with a .282 team batting average and 10th with 164 runs scored, while the pitching staff is eighth with a 3.10 ERA and seventh in opponent batting average at .252. Slippery Rock has been aggressive on the bases and ranks seventh in the PSAC with 48 stolen bases.
• Outfielders Heather Lutz and Megan Hallock have been dynamic out of the No. 1 and No. 2 spots in the lineup and have steadily improved their respective batting averages over the course of the season. Hallock returned from Spring Break with a .171 batting average and over the past 14 games she has had 18 hits including seven multi-hit games to improve her average to its current .336. Lutz has been the table setter of the offensive attack out of her lead-off position in Jen Probst lineup. She is in the midst of a three-game hit streak and has the second most hits on the team with 45, the most doubles (12), top on-base percentage (.456), and has walked a team-leading 21 times. Lutz has surpassed career highs in triples (2), RBIs (21), stolen bases (5) and has yet to commit an error in her 136 career games played.
• First baseman Brittany Smith enters the PSAC Tournament one home run shy of matching former teammate Jordan Sheffield's career program record of 14. Smith has had the flair for dramatics hitting the PSAC Tournament clinching homer against Shippensburg on April 15 and also hit a pair of no doubters during the doubleheader sweep of Chestnut Hill.
• Brianna Andraos has been the Marauder workhorse within the pitching circle. The senior captain is the program's all-time leader in innings pitched with 599 entering the tournament. Andraos has won PSAC East Pitcher of the Week on two occasions, broke the career strikeout record against USciences, currently leads the PSAC in shutouts with nine, and her current ERA of 2.02 is not only a career-best mark, but also ranks 14th within the conference.
• When looking at the PSAC statistical rankings, the Marauders stand sixth in the conference with its .294 batting average, seventh with 192 runs scored, third in doubles (63), fourth in hits (351), and seventh in team ERA (3.05).
• Millersville recently was ranked No. 7 in the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region Ranking which was released last Wednesday. The rankings determine the field for the NCAA Tournament as the top eight teams from each region secure NCAA Tournament bids. West Chester was ranked No. 1.

SERIES HISTORY
• Millersville and Slippery Rock have met a total of three times with Marauders owning a 2-1 record over The Rock. The teams last met in 2015 during a Spring Break trip in Clermont, Fla where the Marauders were victorious by a 2-1 score. The game saw a combined nine errors between Millersville and Slippery Rock, Brianna Andraos led the way throwing seven innings while only giving up unearned run on six hits while walking two and setting down six batters with the punch-out. The Marauders scored the winning run in the bottom of the third when Brittany Smith reached on an error by Slippery Rock's shortstop, moved to second during the same sequence and touched home thanks to a Gabbie Berry single.

ABOUT THE OPPONENT
• Brooke Dawson leads The Rock's rotation at 9-8 overall with a 2.39 ERA and 81 strikeouts, with 10 complete games in 120 total innings. Carly DeRose is 8-8 on the season with a 2.78 ERA and 79 strikeouts over 98.1 innings pitched.
• Slippery Rock receives most of its offensive contributions from a quartet of seniors. Megan Maloney leads The Rock with a .373 batting average; Katie Kaiser is hitting .336 with 50 hits, 27 runs and 28 RBI. Ashley Samluk is hitting .291 with 39 hits and 24 RBI, followed by Stacey Herzog with a .304 batting average, 31 hits and 20 RBI.
