
Men's Golf Slips to Seventh at Cecil C. Spadafora Invitational

Indiana, Pa. - The Millersville men's golf team entered the second and final round of the Cecil C. Spadafora Invitational at Indiana Country Club just two shots out of first place but slipped to seventh in the 15-team field after posting a team score of 307 on Monday. The Marauders finished with a 603, 35-over-par total--17 shots behind West Chester and Charleston.
Millersville played the opening 18 holes on the par 71 course with a 296 total. Seven teams in the field improved scores in round two but the Marauders added nine shots to their day one total. Sophomore Connor Sheehan shot a career-best 1-under-par 70 in round one and was in second place. But 10-over-par 81 in the second round dropped into a tie for 24th.
Robby Rowe was Millersville's top finisher in a tie for 19th at 8-over par. Bret Howey finished at 9-over-par at in a seven-way tie for 24th. Freshman Axel Hartman's strong play the previous week earned him a spot in the starting lineup, and he finished in a tie for 34th (11-over) after rounds of 77 and 76. Rodney Anders rounded out the Marauder lineup in 48th in the 84-player field.
The tournament was the last of the regular season for the Marauders. The team was ranked No. 7 in the most recent NCAA Atlantic Region rankings and is expected to be in the field for the NCAA Atlantic/East Super Regional hosted in Baldwinsville, N.Y. from May 2-4. It will be the team's fourth consecutive regional appearance. An official announcement from the NCAA will be made later this week.
