Game Overview
  • For the fifth year in a row, Millersville has qualified for the PSAC tournament. The Marauders finished fourth in the conference, so they are set to take on the fifth seeded Bloomsburg at home. Millersville enters the tournament having won four of the last five games, and their NCAA tournament fate may depend on the results of the conference tournament. The top three teams from the Atlantic Region qualify; Millersville is third. However, results from last week's games have not been factored in yet, as the new rankings come Wednesday Tuesday. West Chester is in fourth as of now, but after their win over Millersville last Wednesday, they could possibly overtake Millersville for that third spot. Even so, Millersville could play up to three games in the PSAC tournament, and depending how they play they could still steal an NCAA tournament spot.
  • Millersville has allowed 12 goals this year. It has played 18 games. The defense has been incredible, allowing only 50 shots on goal all season long. To put it in comparison, Bloomsburg, a team ranked seventh in the country, has allowed 113 shots on goal. If one is able to get past the Marauder D, it doesn't get any easier. Goalkeeper Samantha Rumler, who was selected to play on the U.S. National Indoors team, is the iron back-bone of the Marauders' overwhelmingly strong defense. Rumler has the second best goals against average in the nation, letting in less than a goal per game.
  • Millersville's offense has been led by Aliza Mizak. The sophomore ranks in the top 30 in the NCAA in total goals on the season with seven. Bloomsburg has a premier threat of its own in Sam Peters. Peters has scored in more than half of Bloomsburg's games this year, ranking her top five in the country.
About The Series
  • Four of the last seven matchups have gone into overtime. Millersville has not only won the four OT games, but it has actually won all of those past seven games. It wasn't always this way for Millersville. There was a stretch where the Marauders were a dismal 0-31-2 against Bloomsburg.
The Last Matchup
  • Bloomsburg comes to town looking for vengeance. In the last game between the two PSAC schools, Millersville defeated the Huskies in a double-overtime battle, 2-1. Olivia Hershey made the game-winner with less than 10 minutes remaining in the second overtime, but the Huskies had their chances. It was a game that Bloom controlled for a while, leading 1-0 until Taylor Parker tied it up late in the second half. Each team attempted 14 shots in the evenly played game, and the Huskies actually managed to place more shots on goal than the Marauders, a rare feat. However, goalie Sam Rumler shined, making seven saves in the win.
PSAC Tournament Outlook
  • Millersville hosts Bloomsburg as a four seed in a six team tournament for the elusive PSAC title. Tickets for the game will be $10 for adults and free for students with a valid ID. The winner of the matchup earns the right to play East Stroudsburg. The Warriors are not only number one in the conference, but are also the top ranked team in the entire country. As challenging as game that may be, it is exactly the opportunity Millersville needs to propel itself into the NCAA tournament. Third-seeded West Chester will have its chances too. The Golden Rams take on IUP in the first round, and if it advances, it will take on No. 2 seed, Shippensburg. Ship has been just as good as ESU, as each are 9-1 in the conference. Both Millersville and WCU face separate challenges and have very similar odds, but Millersville must first take care of business at home against Bloomsburg.
