Indiana, Pennsylvania - Indiana (Pa.) swept visiting Millersville 3-0 (25-15, 25-22, 25-22) Saturday afternoon in PSAC women's volleyball action.
Millersville (9-15, 5-8 PSAC) lost its third consecutive match while IUP (17-7, 8-5 PSAC) won for the third time of four matches, keeping its PSAC Tournament hopes alive. Millersville committed 11 service errors while totaling just two aces. IUP out-hit the Marauders .180-.117.
Erin Harman led the Marauders with 14 kills and a .217 attack percentage. No other Marauder totaled more than six kills. Millersville also mustered just four blocks while IUP recorded 10.
The first set saw IUP hit .308 while millersville committed eight errors to nine kills. Millersville challenged IUP in sets two and three, though. The second set was tied as late as 19-19, but IUP scored four of the next five points, and closed the set with a kill by Alexis Anderson and a Millersville service error.
Set three ended with the same 25-22 score, and Millersville was within striking distance late, trailing by two at 23-21. A Natalie Cignetti kill gave IUP match point. Brittany Ford cut the deficit to two, but a Marauder attack error closed the match for IUP.
Five regular season matches remain for the Marauders. The next three are all at home. The stretch starts Nov. 4 against California (Pa.).
