Kutztown, Pennsylvania - Millersville University senior Shannon Cruz posted a time of 23:49 at Saturday's PSAC Championships, finishing 27th in a field of 116 runners for All-PSAC Second Team recognition. Millersville placed 16th as a team.
One year made quite a difference for Cruz. In 2015, she ran the PSAC Championships just weeks after returning from a lengthy injury recovering and finished 81st. Saturday's run on the 6K course marked a 54-spot improvement. It also netted her a third career All-PSAC honor after she finished 18th as a freshman and 22nd as a sophomore, making her the program's first three-time All-PSAC performer since Millersville Athletics Hall of Fame member Priscilla Jennings from 2006-2009.
As a team, the Marauders finished 16th for the second consecutive season, totaling 461 points. Shippensburg won the team crown with 50 points, placing three runners in the top 10 including winner Casey Norton, who ran a time of 22:17.9.
Senior Megan O'Neill was Millersville's No. 2 runner, posting a time of 26:07.8 for 96th place. Brianna Landis ran third for the Marauders, placing 111th with a time of 27:09.9. Aniya Gibbs (28:42.2) finished two spots later in 113th and Millie Davis (28:46.8) placed on spot behind Gibbs. Madie Tropp round out the Marauders' runners with a time of 29:04.4.
Millersville will next compete at the NCAA Atlantic Regional Championships in Slippery Rock, Pa.
