Game Overview
  • Millersville enters Tuesday as a top three team in the country with a record of 11-3 (4-2). The matchup against Bloomsburg will be the Marauders' last game in a five-game home stand. Over that stretch, Millersville went 2-2. However, two of those losses came against top three squads East Stroudsburg and No. 1 overall Shippensburg. In the most recent game, Millersville got back on the right foot, taking down Limestone 1-0 on Saturday.
  • Bloomsburg's team can be summed up most simply in one word: unpredictable. The Huskies have extremely impressive wins, most notably a 3-0 shutout of No. 1 East Stroudsburg back in early September. Bloom also managed to handle No. 7 Adelphi 5-1 and No.8 Kutztown 2-0. When looking at these victories, the Huskies look like a dangerous team but they do have another side. For every big win, it seems Bloomsburg has an equally surprising loss. When they took on Pace, a 7-7 team, the Huskies were upset, 1-0. They have also lost to 7-5 IUP. Bloomsburg is tied with Millersville at 4-2 in the PSAC and have an overall record of 10-4.
  • Some of the best players in the PSAC are featured in this contest between two competitive teams in a competitive conference. The national title winner has come from the PSAC for five years in a row now, confirming its spot as the power conference in Division II field hockey. Bloomsburg boasts the fifth best scorer in the PSAC in Sam Peters, who has averaged a goal in more than every other game. Millersville is well-represented by Margaret Thorwart, who has tallied four assists and is tied for fourth in the conference in the category. Quite possibly the most impressive statistical player is the Marauder goalkeeper, Samantha Rumler. Rumler is ranked second in goals against average and third in shutouts in both the conference and in the country.
About The Series
  • Millersville has defeated Bloomsburg six times in a row. No one would have been able to predict this years ago, as the record between the two stood at 0-31-2 for Millersville from 1990-2012. Three of those six wins for Millersville have come in overtime.
The Last Matchup
  • With a final score of 1-0, Millersville held the Huskies without a shot, and did not allow even one corner. Millersville put 12 shots on goal, and eventually Olivia Hershey cracked through and scored, giving Millersville all it needed in the win. Thorwart was responsible for the assist, and both Thorwart and Hershey harassed the Huskies' goaltender with four shots each.
