Kutztown, Pa. – The Millersville women's swimming team traveled to Kutztown on Saturday to battle the Golden Bears and LIU Post in a tri-meet at Keystone Pool.
The Marauders posted solid times all across the board and began the meet by finishing second in the 200-yard medley relay. The quartet of
Emily Fusco,
Janelle Laudermilch,
Rachel Malampy and
Brigid Kavanaugh finished the event with a recorded time of 1:53.20.
Senior freestyler
Grace Magerr hit upon a PSAC qualifying time with her second-place finish in the 1,000-yard freestyle. Magerr touched the final wall with a recorded time of 10:53.80. Magerr also finished second in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:21.06.
Rachel Malampy finished second in the 200-yard freestyle earning the Marauders four team points. The junior completed the event in 2:00.68. Malampy nearly bested her top time in the 100-yard freestyle finishing in 55.78, which was good for a third-place finish.
Brigid Kavanaugh finished right behind her with a recorded time of 56:14. Kavanaugh earned Millersville four team points with a second-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle.
In the fifth event of the afternoon,
Janelle Laudermilch finished second in the 100-yard breaststroke. The senior captain finished with a time of 1:09.87 and was edged out by Caitlin Johnstone of LIU Post. Laudermilch produced a time of 2:33.47 in the 200-yard breastroke, which represented a second-place finish. Laudermilch completed her afternoon nearly qualifying for the PSAC Championships in February in the 200-yard IM, but came up just short with a recorded time of 2:22.53.
Millersville returns to action next week when it competes in the ESU Invitational. The first event is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m.
