EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The Millersville University women's swimming team fell just eight points short against the Warriors of East Stroudsburg University. The Marauders earned top two finishes in 12 events, including five first-place performances. Millersville also added three new times to their all-time top 10 records. Hannah Baumgardner claimed both the fourth time in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:40.83) and the seventh time in the 500-yard freestyle (5:20.50), and Abigail Lowman is tied at fifth in the 200-yard backstroke (2:10.53).

Millersville opened the meet with a second-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay, as Lowman, Leah Eckert, Violet Pizzillo, and Anna Sassaman posted a time of 1:51.20, just 0.15 seconds behind East Stroudsburg's winning squad. Baumgardner followed with a second place showing in the 1,000-yard freestyle, while Claire Weaver added another runner-up finish in the 200-yard freestyle (2:01.07).

Lowman earned the Marauders' first individual victory of the day in the 100-yard backstroke. Eckert secured second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:09.31), and Pizzillo claimed first in the 200-yard butterfly (2:20.23). In the 50-yard freestyle, Lowman and Sassaman placed second and third, respectively. The Marauders continued their success in the 200-yard backstroke, sweeping the top three spots with Lowman, Weaver, and Christiana Snavely.

Izabella Wreski captured another first-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:30.10), while Baumgardner and Weaver added two more second-place efforts in their respective events. Pizzillo closed out her strong day with a win in the 200-yard individual medley, and the Millersville 200-yard freestyle relay team rounded out the meet with a third-place finish. The Marauders finished the meet with a score of 127, just eight points behind the Warriors at 135.

"Overall, I was happy with the way we raced today on the road," said head coach Evan Anthony. "The team had a very positive attitude with good energy heading into the meet and kept that going through the last relay. We knew it would be a close one and we ended up just short. There were still a ton of great swims and people stepping up to put us in a position to be so close. We will use this meet as fuel heading into training this week before we have one more dual meet to prepare for mid-season. The team continues to train extremely hard, and we will keep working to get better every day."

The Marauders are back at Anttonen Natatorium Saturday Nov 8 when they host the Golden Bears from Kutztown University as they search for their first dual meet victory.
