GAME OVERVIEW• Millersville will start Tuesday's game against East Stroudsburg before Saturday's game against IUP is finished. Saturday's weather conditions forced the Marauders and Crimson Hawks to postpone the game with the score tied 1-1 at the start of double overtime. The Marauders trailed 1-0 until the final two minutes of regulation, and it was the first time in a calendar year that Millersville trailed at the half at home.
• Sophomore Kathleen Bishop scored the game-tying goal. It was her fourth of the season, which places her in a tie for fourth in the PSAC. This comes after taking just three shots and playing in 11 of the team's 23 games in 2014.
• Including Saturday's incomplete game, the Marauders have out-shot their opponents by a staggering 84-13 margin and have 52 shots on goal compared to seven for their opponents. The Marauders also lead the PSAC in penalty corners drawn with 64. Despite the lopsided statistics, Millersville has scored nine goals while giving up four in seven shots on goal. Millersville ranks third in the PSAC in shots taken but seventh in goals. The Marauders also rank last in saves.
• Coach Shelly Behrens has utilized her team's depth so far as 19 players have played in all four games. Sixteen players have attempted at least one shot. With 14 shots, Margaret Thorwart has already matched her career-high in shots. She also had 14 as a freshman and totaled 11 in 23 games last season. ABOUT THE SERIES•
East Stroudsburg holds a 30-21-1 edge in the all-time series that dates to 1959. Millersville has won four in a row since 2012 but prior to that had lost 22 of 27 from 1994-2011. Coach Shelly Behrens is 6-6 against ESU coach Sandy Miller. Millersville is looking to win five in a row against ESU for the first time in program history. Champayne Hess scored both of her team's goals including the game-winner in the 2-1 overtime victory over East Stroudsburg. Millersville scored just 5:27 into the game when Hess redirected a
Hannah Whitman shot off of a penalty corner. East Stroudsburg found the equalizer at the 55:26 mark when Gabrielle Seibert scored. The upset-mind Warriors earned a golden opportunity to take the lead in the 65th minute by drawing a penalty stroke. The stroke pitted Ally Roth, the PSAC's leading scorer with 18 goals, against
Lauren Sotzin, the nation's leader in goals against average. Roth tried to shoot high but fired over the crossbar. Millersville controlled overtime. Off of a penalty corner,
Rachel Dickinson cranked a shot from the left side of the circle that skidded past Ard. Hess was waiting with an out-stretched stick and redirected the shot high into the cage. Millersville finished with a 21-7 edge in shots and a 15-6 advantage in corners.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS• This is East Stroudsburg's first road trip of the season after opening with four consecutive home games. The Warriors outscored their first three opponents by an 11-2 margin before falling to Kutztown, 1-0. The Warriors out-shot Kutztown 17-5 but failed to score. Top goal-scorer Ally Roth scored four goals in the first two games and recorded an assist against Bloomsburg. The Warriors have at least 17 shots and 10 shots on goal in each game. Roth is a two-time NFHCA All-America First Team selection and was named PSAC Offensive Player of the Year in 2014. She led the league in points (53), goals (22) and was third in assists with nine. She holds the ESU career record for points with 128.
• Goalkeeper Danielle Ard is in her second season as the primary starting goalkeeper. She posted a 1.91 goals against average in 2014 and already has two shutouts in 2015. She leads the PSAC in goals against average at .800 and ranks fourth in saves percentage (.789).
