Bloomsburg, Pa. - The PSAC Individual Tennis Championships served as the lid-lifter of the 2015-16 season for both of Millersville's tennis programs. The men and women representatives were knocked out in the first round of singles and doubles action.
The tournament was originally set for two days but rain wiped out play on Saturday. The Millersvill men were represented by Nico Mucci and Dylan Ryan. Mucci was knocked out by Flilip Lagerqvist of Kutztown by a 6-3, 6-1 score. Ryan drew No. 2 seed Nenad Terzic of Mercyhurst and was defeated, 6-0, 6-0. In doubles, the duo was taken out by Bloomsburg's Jean Paul Jones and Pable Herrero, 8-2.
The women were sent Nicole Daacke and Kaylora Thompson to the championships for doubles competition. The duo was defeated by Seton Hill's Paula Carvajalino and Madison Debone. Daacke also played in the singles bracket, falling to Veronika Mikulis of California by a 6-1, 6-0 count. Freshman Sarah Sambrick droped a 6-1, 6-0 decision to IUP's Claudia Menes.
The women's program is set to host five duals at home from Oct. 2-12. This weekend's tournament was the men's team's lone competition of the fall.
