
Student-Athlete Spotlight: Nicole Daacke

Nicole Daacke is in her senior season playing for Millersville's women's tennis team. The Glen Rock, Pa., native and All-PSAC East Second Team selection competed in 15 singles matches last season.
What is your favorite place on campus and why?
The tennis courts! It's always a good time there!
Who is your favorite professor/class and why?
Cultural Anthropology with Dr. Garcia. I found it really interesting and we had great conversations.
Why did you choose your major?
It's broad enough that I can do a lot of different things with it.
Why did you choose Millersville?
I chose Millersville because of the proximity to home, price, variety of majors and for tennis.
What is a day in the life of a student-athlete?
A day in the life of a student-athlete goes class in the morning, library in the early afternoon, practice late afternoon, dinner and sleep.
How has playing sports at Millersville changed you as an individual?
It's helped me improve as a leader, team player and also improved my physical fitness and game.
What has been the most rewarding community service project?
Volunteering with victims of human trafficking in the Philippines. It was life changing and something I'll never forget.
What is your favorite sports team?
BALTIMORE RAVENS!
Who is your favorite professional athlete and why?
Rafael Nadal, he's an amazing athlete but also carries himself with such poise.
What is your favorite sports memory?
Probably our match against West Chester my freshman year. It came down to my three set tiebreaker match deciding which team went to semifinals of PSAC's...and I won!
Who do you most admire and why?
My parents, they're incredible people.
What is the greatest risk you've ever taken?
Traveling Europe on my own for three months was pretty daunting.
Where will you be in 10 years?
Hopefully living a life of love, which could be in many capacities. Although, my dream would to be working for National Geographic. Check back in in a few years.
Best piece of advice you've received?
The most dangerous risk of all is the risk of spending your life not doing what you want on the bet you can buy yourself the freedom to do it later."
What is favorite place you've visited/vacationed?
I've been to 17 countries and I love them all for different reasons. If I could go back to any place right this second it would be Ireland.
The one thing you cannot live without?
A camera, my cats, and my family.
What hobby or ability might we not know you have?
I've played Irish fiddle for 15 years.
What is at the top of your "bucket list?"
Learn how to surf and windsurf...crossing it off this winter!
What is your favorite TV show?
Gossip Girl.
What is your favorite movie?
Marley and me.
Who is your favorite band/artist?
Ed Sheeran.
What is your favorite meal?
Panera Asian sesame chicken salad.
