GAME OVERVIEW• The end of the regular season schedule sets up well for the Marauder as they get to close with four home games against Mansfield. With Mansfield's field not in playable conditions, Friday's games were moved to Cooper Park. Millersville is aiming for its third consecutive PSAC East title, fourth in the last five years and fifth since
Jon Shehan became head coach in 2008. At 18-6 in division play, the Marauders need to win and get some help from West Chester's opponents. The Golden Rams, a 17-5 play a four game series with Shippensburg on Friday and Saturday and close with a doubleheader against Mansfield on Sunday. Millersville has won five of the last six home games against Mansfield.Â
• Millersville's offense is rolling. Winners of five in a row, the Marauders have scored 54 runs in the last five games and have outscored their opponents 54-8 in the stretch. On Thursday, the Marauders set a Cooper Park record with 21 runs against USciences. Millersville has scored 10-plus runs 13 times this season. Millersville hit five home runs in the game including two apiece from Tyler Orris and Dan Stoltzfus. Orris had started 155 career games without a homer at Cooper Park but hit two in back-to-back innings. Stoltzfus has hit three homers in the last two games and has hit four of his 12 in Cooper Park. • Stoltzfus is in the midst of an historic season. The junior has swatted 12 homers, which pulls him within two of the program's single-season record set by Ryan Brink (1998) and Matt Knox (2001). He is the first Marauder since Knox to hit double-digit homers in a season and only the fifth ever to do it. Additionally, his six RBIs pushed his season total to 63, which is nine away from Knox's record of 72, which was set in 2000. Only one other player (Brink) had more than 50 in a season.Â
 • Millersville has three players with .400 batting averages. David Summerfield leads the way at .435 and Stoltzfus is nipping at his heels at .429. Since 1970, only 16 Marauders have hit over .400 and only Zach Stone has hit the mark since 2002. Millersville has never produced three .400 hitters in one season and has produced two in the same season just once before--in 1977. The sample size was significantly smaller in 1977 as well. Jay Johnson hit .459 while playing 19 games. Teammate Bob Rossi hit .411 in 16 games.   • Dan Neff has quietly produced an oustanding season, hitting .366  with 45 runs and 11 steals. His four triples are tied for second all-time and just one behind the top spot which is held by Don Trout (1982).Â
• Tyler McDonald recently recorded the 100th RBI of his career and now at 108, he stands in ninth place in Millersville history, one ahead of Jeff Heisey (2010-13) and six behind Corey Phelan (2007-11). McDonald's grand slam against USciences was the first of his career.Â
• Millersville turns to Chris Murphy in Friday's opener. Murphy has made only two of his 10 starts at home this season and has been lights-out in both. Against Bloomsburg and Kutztown, he allowed just one run and one walk over 12 innings. Murphy also made only two starts at home in 2014, going 2-0. He is 9-1 in his career at Cooper Park and undefeated at home against PSAC East opponents. His lone home loss came against Philadelphia on March 9, 2013--one start before his perfect game on March 15. Murphy was also named a semifinalist for the Brett Tomko Award this week. The PSAC announces its yearly awarded winners on April 28, and Murphy is certainly a favorite for an unprecedented third pitcher of the year honor. He leads all PSAC East pitchers in ERA, wins, and opponent batting average and ranks third in strikeouts.Â
