Millersville and Shippensburg Softball to Raise Awareness for Domestic Violence

Shippensburg, Pa. - The Millersville and Shippensburg softball teams have made their doubleheader on April 17 Domestic Violence Awareness Day to give the issue the attention it deserves and to honor the tragic passing of Millersville student, Karlie Hall.

Shippensburg's women's athletics sorority, Tau Kappa, hosted its annual Project Prom Dress and all of the proceeds that were raised ($1,047) during that event and all the proceeds raised during this doubleheader are being donated to Randi's House of Angels in honor of Karlie.

Randi's House of Angels was established in October of 2011 by Nancy J. Chavez as a tribute to her daughter, Randi Trimble, who was killed on Jan. 10, 2003. Since her daughter's death, Nancy has been advocating for victims of domestic violence with the hope of creating an initiative for children who are victims.

Hall passed away on Sunday, Feb. 8 and was a victim of domestic violence. Since her passing, over $19,000 has been raised by nearly 560 people in just two months at the "Karlie's Angels" GoFundMe.com site and you can still donate now.

First pitch for game one in Shippensburg is set for 2:30 p.m.
