
Shannon Weber Wins the Dr. Edwin B. Cottrell Invitational; Team Places Second

West Chester, Pa. - Freshman Shannon Weber won the fifth tournament of her rookie campaign on Monday as she took home medalist honors at the Dr. Edwin B. Cottrell Invitational. The Millersville women's golf team placed second out of a strong 10-team field (685/+109) and finished in the top two for a seventh time out of 12 events this season, which includes a string of five straight.
Sunday, Weber turned in a 12-over-par 84 after round one before shooting a 79 on Monday, one stroke shy of tying her personal low. Her 36-hole score of 163 was also just one shot more than her career best. Jaimie Wharton was the other Marauder to finish in the top 10 as she tied for 10th with a two-day score of 173 (89, 84).
Behind those two, Jennifer Gentry tied for 13th with a 174 (88, 86), Danielle Freed placed 15th with a 175 (86, 89) and Kendal Olear was the final golfer to score for Millersville with a 182 (91, 91).
Kutztown (682/+106) won the event while homestanding West Chester (688/+112) rounded out the top three. Taking a look at the individual standings a little more, the Golden Bears' Hope Giordano and the Golden Rams' Lacey Bensing tied for second behind Weber.
