Stroudsburg, Pa. - Shannon Weber earned medalist honors for the sixth time in her freshman campaign and led the Millersville women's golf team to its fifth tournament title in 2014-15 on Monday afternoon at the ESU Invitational. The Marauders shot a 655 as a team, the lowest score in program history.
Weber turned in a career-low four-over-par 76 on Sunday before shooting a 79 on Monday to total 155, also a personal best for the Kutztown native. Jaimie Wharton's scorecard read 80 for both Sunday and Monday's rounds while her two-round score of 160 was just three more strokes than tying her career low.
Kendal Olear was the final Marauder in the top five with a 170 (82, 88) in fifth place, Jennifer Gentry tied for sixth with a 174 (90, 84) and Danielle Freed rounded out the scoring for Millersville in ninth with a 175 (91, 84). Alexa Strong golfed unattached in just her second event of the spring and finished in 16th with a 186 (95, 91).
Behind Millersville, Seton Hill was second (680), host East Stroudsburg rounded out the top three (743) and Eastern placed fourth (754).
Millersville finishes 2014-15 on top and this event puts an end to the most successful season in program history. The Marauders won five events, placed in the top three for nine of the 13 total competitions, and Weber produced the single-most decorated season for a Millersville golfer in its history. Weber won six tournament titles and turned in 10 top 5's, 11 top 10's, and 10 top 25's with a scoring average of 82.1.
