
Madison Breaks School Record to Highlight Achievements at the Bison Classic

Lewisburg, Pa. – Erin Madison re-broke the Millersville record in the 400-meter hurdles with a second-place finish to highlight a successful meet for the women's track and field team at the Bison Invitational. Madison crossed the finish line in 1:00.66 which was .19 faster than her previous record-setting time and also represented a NCAA Division II provisional mark.
Madison also competed in the 100-meter hurdles where she crossed the finish line 15th. Her recorded time of 15.19 upped the junior's ranking to seventh on the PSAC Outdoor Performance List. Teammate Arianna Camel also competed in the event finishing in 14th for the Marauders. Camel's time of 15.12 qualifies her for the PSAC Outdoor Championships scheduled for April 30-May 2.
Sprinter Kiara Allen began her day by finishing second in the 100-meter dash competing against several Division I and II athletes. Allen's recorded time of 12.07 was her second fastest time of the outdoor season. The Central Dauphin product also hit upon a PSAC qualifying time in the 200-meter dash where she finished 10th with a 25.13 time.
In the 800-meter run the Marauders saw two athletes qualify for PSAC's. Junior Amanda Long finished in 48th place, but her mark of 2:20.50 was just under a three second improvement over her previous best time of the season. Aniya Gibbs competed in the event for the first time in the 2015 season with her 2:22.06 mark representing the other PSAC Outdoor Championships qualifying effort. Gibbs finished the race in 64th place.
Sophomore Abigail Daley became the second Marauder in the 2015 season to hit upon a PSAC qualifying effort in the grueling 5,000-meter run. Daley finished the event 20th with an 18:27.52 recorded time, joining Shannon Cruz who qualified at the Raleigh Relays earlier this season.
The Marauders had two athletes finish within the top-20 in the javelin throw. Freshman Amanda Myers best throw traveled 37.05 meters and was good for 13th. Teammate Olivia Misner finished in 16th as she had a .18 improvement over her previous best time in the event with a throw of 36.48 meters.
The women's track & field team will only have a couple of days to prepare for the Shippensburg Invitational which is scheduled for April 15. The mid-week event is slated to begin at 3 p.m.
