PSAC East Play BeginsThe Millersville softball team opened PSAC East play on Sunday, March 22 and did so with two of the toughest teams in the division and even the conference as a whole. The leage slate began against Kutztown and the Golden Bears took both games by scores of 6-2 and 6-5 (11 innings). The next day, West Chester, who was ranked No. 21 in the country at the time, came to Millersville Softball Field for a doubleheader. The Golden Rams shutout the Marauders in both games of the twinbill and did so with scores of 6-0 and 1-0. Those two teams are now a combined 32-12 and the schedule doesn't get any more favorable as Shippensburg is next.
Free SoftballMillersville has already played both a 10-inning game and an 11-inning game this season. Prior to the 2015 campaign, the Marauders hadn't done that since 2010. That season, Millersville played a 10-inning contest at home against West Chester on April 17 and lost 10-8. Earlier that year, the Marauders traveled to Indiana (Pa.) for a 12-inning marathon on April 3 in which IUP won by a score of 3-2. Since the beginning of the 2010 season, Millersville has a record of just 3-13 in extra-inning games.
