Millersville, Pa. – A short-handed Millersville Marauders wrestling team dropped a pair of matches to Super Region 1 foes West Liberty and No. 7 Mercyhurst on Friday at Pucillo Gymnasium.
 
West Liberty (2-6) edged the Marauders (6-7, 1-4 PSAC) with a win in the final match of the dual. Mercyhurst boosted its record to 14-1 and stayed unbeaten in the PSAC at 4-0 with a commanding 47-0 win over the Marauders.
 
Three unavailable Marauders proved significant in the loss to West Liberty. Without Austin Camacci and Alex Baider at 125 pounds, the Marauders were forced to give up six points—the difference in the match. The Marauders were also forced to move Shane Ruhnke up to 165 with wins leader Ian Shannon out of the lineup.  Brock Thompson wrestled at 174 pounds—two weight classes above his usual 157.
 
At 165, Ruhnke trailed 7-2 but rallied back to within one after an escape to start the third. Art Hobley was able to turn away all of Ruhnke's shots.
 
In the 184-pound match, Kyle Narber and Danny Doyle were tied 2-2 to start the third. Narber quickly escaped from the bottom position to take a 3-2 lead. Thirty seconds in, Narber scored a takedown but Doyle quickly escaped. Narber added two more points in the closing seconds for an 8-3 win.
 
Freshman Zachary Yackenchick battled hard for a narrow, 3-2 win over Nate Dawson at 197, giving David Wuestner a chance to win the match for the Marauders. Aaron Silverio, now a 20-match winner, denied any offense to Wuestner and preserved the Hilltoppers' win with a 3-1 decision.
 
In the dual with Mercyhurst, Millersville could not score a point against a lineup featuring five nationally-ranked grapplers. The Lakers won three matches by fall and scored two by technical fall.
