
Pair of Victories Power MU Track And Field at Susquehanna Invitational

Susquehanna, Pa. – The Millersville track and field team used the Susquehanna Invitational as a chance to prepare for the PSAC championships schedule to begin Feb. 28-March 1. Highlights for the Marauders included a pair of victories courtesy of Kiara Allen and Erin Madison.
Allen broke her school record in the 60-meter dash by finishing with a time of 7.70. The time not only moves the sprinter up to second on the PSAC Indoor Performance list, but also placed her within the top-30 in the NCAA Division II Provisional Qualifiers.
In the 60 meter hurdles senior Erin Madison was able to capture her first victory of the indoor season. Madison was able to win the event by finishing with a recorded time of 9.25. The Canadensis, Pa., native also performed exceptionally well in the 200-meter dash. Madison finished the race fourth with a time of 26.79, which also met a PSAC qualifying standard.
Teammate Courtney Ingold also competed in the 200-meter dash as she finished the event 12th with a time of 27.08. The mark represented a .25 improvement over her previous top time in the event.
Shannon Cruz who competed in her first meet in over a month achieved a PSAC performance time in the 5000-meter run. Cruz who finished the race third, crossed the finish line with a recorded time of 18:49.68. The mark also represented the Marauders top time in the event on the year and placed Cruz within the top-20 in the PSAC provisional qualifiers.
In the weight throw, both Ann Kovacs and Vanessa Hower were able to place within the top-10. Kovacs finished eighth and had a top throw of 45-6 1/2 in her second attempt. Hower scored a 10th place finish with her top throw measuring out at 44-11.
Arianna Camel put forth an outstanding effort in the high jump with her top distance of 5-1 ¾ occurring in her final attempt. Camel's jump represented the Marauders top effort of the indoor season and it scored her a second place finish.
Millersville has one regular season indoor meet left and will travel to Princeton, N.J. next weekend for the Princeton Invitational The following week the Marauders will compete in the PSAC Championships at Edinboro University.
