GAME OVERVIEW
• Millersville returns to the court for the first time in nearly two weeks on Thursday with a non-conference road game against Goldey-Beacom. The Marauders then return home to Pucillo Gymnasium on Sunday, ending a three-game road swing. December was a good month for the Marauders as they went 4-1. Millersville has won five of the last six games since starting 1-3. The only loss in that stretch was a five-point decision to nationally-ranked California. The difference has been at the defensive end where the Marauders have held their last six opponents to 56.0 points per game on 34.3 percent shooting. In the first four games the Marauders allowed 69 points per game on 41.7 percent shooting.
• Millersville has held four of its last five opponents under 60 points scored. After three consecutive teams beat Millersville in November by shooting over 40 percent from the field, Millersville has allowed only one team (Seton Hill) to shoot better than 40 percent from the field over the last six games. Millersville now ranks No. 1 in the PSAC in scoring defense, allowing just 61.2 points per game. The Marauders also rank second in field goal percentage defense (.373).
• Rebounding is also a key to Millersville's success. During the 1-3 start, the Marauders were -0.6 in rebounding margin. Since then, the Marauders have averaged 43.0 rebounds per game while allowing just 33.7 (+9.3).  The Marauders now rank third in the PSAC in rebounds per game and rebounding margin. Millersville is 6-1 when out-rebounding its opponent, 4-1 when totaling 40-plus rebounds and 6-1 when scoring more second chance points. Millersville's 15.7 offensive rebounds per game ranks fourth in the PSAC, just 0.7 behind leader Edinboro. Yasmin Cooper's 53 offensive rebounds (5.3 per game) leads the PSAC. Cooper ranks sixth overall in rebounds.
• While the Marauders rank 17th in the 18-team PSAC in free throw shooting, the Marauders seem to have turned the corner at the line. After shooting 56.3 percent from the line in the first six games, Millersville has hit 74.2 percent (49-of-66) over the last four games, posting a 3-1 record in the stretch. Shelby Reimer has connected on 15 of her last 16 free throws. Aunjel Van Brakle is 14 for her last 16 and Celeste Robinson is 9-for-11 over the last four games. Reimer and Alayah Hall both went 6-for-6 against Lock Haven and helped the Marauders make 21-of-26 in the game. It was the most free throws by the Marauders since November 2014 and the best percentage since Nov. 28, 2010.
• If the Marauders play well early, they generally go on to win. Millersville is 6-1 with first half leads. They have outscored teams 153-135 in the first quarter (95-62 over the last six games).
• Millersville and Goldey-Beacom meet for the first time, and Millersville and Pitt-Johnstown have met just once since 2006. Last season, Millersville lost Carly Gallagher for the season at UPJ and lost the game, 74-72.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
• After starting the season 0-9, Goldey-Beacom has won three of the last four and has done so by cranking up its offense. The Lightning has scored 81, 82 and 85 points in their last three wins. They had scored more than 60 just once in the previous nine games. Sophomore Britani Bryson was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Player o fthe Week two weeks ago after averaging 21 points and 15.5 rebounds in two games. Bryson ranks in the top 40 nationally in rebounds per game, field goals, double-doubles and offensive rebounds. Lexi Bruno is the leading scorer, averaging 16.6 points per game. She's also a strong distributor, totaling 71 assists (5.5) to 28 turnovers.
• While Millersville is trending upward, Pitt-Johnstown has been headed in the opposite direction since the start of December. The Mountain Cats opened the season 5-2 with two losses by a combined total of three points. But since Dec. 1, Pitt-Johnstown is 2-4 with all four losses coming by double-digits. UPJ is 1-3 on the road. Jasmine Harper and Olivia McCabe form a strong tandem. Both average double-digit points and better than 8.0 rebounds per game.
