Marauders Finish 2015 on High Note

Millersville (2-9) won consecutive games for the first time since 2010 and did it with the big play. Paige, who tossed three touchdown passes, found Cimirrow Moat for a 76-yard screen pass turned touchdown for Millersville's longest reception since Sept. 20, 2008 when Jamal Smith and Bill Shirk hooked up for 80 yards. Moat caught another TD pass for 42 yards with 5:42 left in the third quarter, giving him 118 yards receiving on just two catches. Moat also rushed for 38 yards.
Millersville scored on its opening possession when Sean Quarterman snared a three-yard pass from Paige. While Edinboro evened the score on a 59-yard Cory Bell touchdown run early in the second, Millersville took a 17-7 lead into the half after Moat's catch and run and a 21-yard Evan Stahl boot.
The Marauders extended the lead to 24-7 when Moat and Paige needed only one play to score from 42 yards out. That came after the Marauder defense made a key hold on fourth down by forcing an incomplete pass.
The Millersville defense made three fourth down stops in the second half. Rasheed Johnson stuff a run attempt on fourth-and two at the Millersville 22 with 2:44 left in the third.
Edinboro's Jack Wallman connected with Darren Massey for 61 yards to close the third, cutting Millersville's lead to 24-14. But the defense came through in the clutch two more times late. Joey Pham broke up a fourth-and-one pass attempt on the first drive of the fourth. Then the defense forced back-to-back three-and-outs. With just over a minute remaining, Pham capped his Senior Day in style by picking off Wallman and returning it 48 yards for a pick six. That score put the game well out of reach and was Millersville's first INT return for a touchdown since the 2012 season opener.
Pham finished the game with five pass breakups, giving him 27 over the last two years--more than any other player in the PSAC. His fourth interception also gave him the team lead. His 17 passes defended ranked second in the PSAC. Sean Dugan also made an interception--his second in as many weeks. He led the team Saturday with six tackles. Sene Polamalu registered his sixth sack, which is the most by a Marauder since 2001.
The Marauder defense held Edinboro to just 80 yards rushing and 160 yards passing, dropping the unit's total defense average to 376.6 and fifth in the PSAC. That's the best end-of-season ranking by a Marauder defense in 15 years. The Marauders also finished second in the league in pass defense.
Paiged threw 10 touchdown passes over Millersville's final four games, including three TD's in three of the games. He totaled 15 touchdowns to five interceptions, throwing the second-fewest interceptions in the league and finishing third in completion percentage.
The Marauders bid farewell to its senior class on Saturday. Of note, offensive lineman Lenny Sanelli earned his 44th consecutive start. Rasheed Johnson finished his career with 332 tackles, placing him fifth all-time at Millersville in a tie with Chuck Bachert (1977-79).
