
Millersville Athletics Raises $5,000 for Make-A-Wish; Named as Site for Wish Reveal

Millersville, Pa. - Throughout the 2014-15 academic year, the Millersville University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) dedicated its time to raising money for Make-A-Wish. Marauders and their fans produced $5,000 in donations, landing Millersville the opportunity to reveal a wish to a Make-A-Wish child in 2015-16.
NCAA Division II conferences and institutions began a sponsorship with Make-A-Wish in 2003, and since, more than $4 million has been raise for the organization. All of Division II generated $605,248.21 for Make-A-Wish in 2014-15. Because of this effort, over 530 wishes have been granted over the last 12 years.
Millersville's $5,000 was a record for its athletics department and ranked it second among all PSAC institutions in money generated. With Millersville's donations, the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) was top donation-generating conference in Division II, raising $53,493.51. Some of the initiatives included the sale of Make-A-Wish wrist bands, asking for donations during athletic events and hosting a Make-A-Wish Bingo.
Across the nation, 37 institutions and one conference were issued the opportunity to host a Wish Reveal.
