Hershey, Pa. - Millersville men's golf entered the final round of the PSAC Championship needing to make up ground. Instead, the Marauders lost ground. While five teams in the field improved scores from round one to round two, Millersville turned in a 316--four shots higher than its day one score--and fell into seventh place.
Mercyhurst stormed from a seven-shot deficit and won by 11 shots after carding a 290 on Sunday. That score was nine shots better than any other team in the field, giving the Lakers a winning score of 598. Millersville posted a 628 for its highest team score of the season. Senior Robby Rowe entered the day tied for fourth and just one shot out of the lead. Rowe, however, shot above 80 for just the fourth time in 76 career rounds. His second round 82 put him at 14-over-par and in a tie for 14th.
Rowe was still Millersville's top finisher along with Rodney Anders and Bret Howey. Anders and Howey both improved their position by six places after following Saturday's 79's with a 77's. Freshman Matt Keim rallied to shoot a 9-over-par 80 on Sunday, putting him in 35th.
The championship closes Millersville's fall season. The spring season will begin in March.
