
Marauders Produce Strong Showing at Kutztown Collegiate Invitational

Kutztown, Pa. – Sophomore Arianna Camel put forth an impressive performance for the Millersville indoor track and field team as she scored a first-place finish at the Golden Bear Invitational, leading many strong performances for the Black & Gold on Friday.
Camel crossed the line first in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.63. Teammate Erin Madison also had a strong showing as she finished the event third with a time of 8.84.
Kayla Naughton scored a first-place finish for the Marauders in the 400-meter run. The junior raced out of the starting blocks and secured over a second advantage over the closest competitor and finished with a time of 1:00.10. Naughton also set forth a solid effort in the 55-meter dash as she finished fourth with a recorded time of 7.51. Teammate Kiara Allen was the highest Millersville finisher in the sprint as she ran a 7.33, good for second place.
The Black & Gold also saw PSAC qualify performances by Ann Kovacs (Weight Throw), Kayla Naughton (400-meter run, 55-meter dash), and Erin Harman (Pole Vault).
Freshman Courtney Ingold improved on her season best time in the 200-meter dash as she crossed the finish line third with a time of 21.65.
Harman, a two-sport athlete for the Marauders made her collegiate debut in track and field and she made her presence felt. The Hanover, Pa., native broke the school record in the pole vault as she cleared 3.15 meters. Harman finished third overall in the event.
In other field events, senior Ann Kovacs finished third in the weight throw, and Harman and Jess Fritche finished sixth and seventh in the triple jump, respectively.
In the grueling 3000-meter run the Marauders placed two within the top-5. Amanda Long, Emily Leighow, and Megan O'Neill finished fourth through sixth, respectively.
Long, Taylour Mauro, Abbey Daley, and Shannon Cruz teamed up in the 4x800-meter relay. The quartet finished with a time of 10:52.24 and was just a second behind the foursome from East Stroudsburg.
The Millersville track & field team returns to action next weekend when it travels to Princeton, NJ, to race in the Tiger Open. The meet is set to begin at 10 a.m.
