
Men's Golf Drops to Seventh-Place Finish at Hal Hansen Invitational

Clarion, Pa. - The Hal Hansen Invitational continues to give the Millersville men's golf team fits. The Marauders closed the opening round eight shots off the lead but finished in seventh place after a second-round 309.
Millersville opened with a 302 but dropped two spots in the final standings with a score that was bettered or equaled by seven other teams in the 11-team field. Millersville has not finished better than fifth at the Hal Hansen Invitational since 2002.
Gannon took the team title by two strokes over Erie rival Mercyhurst. Gannon posted a tournament-low 291 in the second round. Mercyhurst also shot two sub-300 rounds and dropped from the first-round leader into runner-up position.
Robby Rowe and freshman Connor Sheehan finished in a tie for 11th. Rowe shot a 1-over-par 73 in the first round but slipped three spots down the leaderboard with a 4-over-par 77 on Monday. Sheehan improved his round one score by two shots on Monday, shooting a 2-over-par 74 and finishing at 6-over-par for the tournament. Rodney Anders shot a career-best 4-over-par 76 to move up to 28th place.
Sheehan and Anders were the only players in the lineup to shoot a lower round on Monday. Conor Gilbert dropped from 23rd place to 38th. His 10-over-par marked the first time in 29 rounds that he has eclipsed 80.
Millersville travels to Charleston, W.Va., for the Glade Springs Intercollegiate Championship on Sept. 15.
