
Marauders, Rowe Take Third in Competitive Glade Springs Intercollegiate Championship

Charleston, W.Va. – Against one of the deepest and most competitive fields it will face the entire season, the Millersville men's golf team placed third in the 54-hole Glade Springs Intercollegiate Championship. With two rounds under par, junior Robby Rowe paced the Marauders with a third-place finish.
The 20-team field played 36 holes on Monday and closed with 18 on Tuesday at the par-72 Cobb Course. Two of Millersville's three rounds came under a 300 total, and its 14-over-par 302 in the third round was second-lowest total of the day. Millersville stood in fifth place after the first 18 holes but quickly rallied to third place at the close of day one thanks to a 1-under-par round from Rowe and freshman Brett Howey.
Millersville trailed eventual champion Indiana (Pa.) by 13 shots entering the final round, and the two teams shot identical scores. IUP finished at 16-over-par for the tournament. California (Pa.) finished second two shots behind. Millersville totaled a score of 29-over-par.
Rowe opened with back-to-back rounds of 71 and entered the final 18 holes three shots behind IUP's Jack Owen. Owen pulled away from the field and finished at 6-under-par, while Rowe's 74 landed him six shots off the pace in third. Senior Conor Gilbert provided a strong 11th-place finish, shooting rounds of 72, 74 and 76 to finish at 6-over-par for the tournament.
Howey and Rodney Anders both cracked the top 25 with scores of 12- and 13-over respectively. Freshman Connor Sheehan finished in a tie for 52nd but dramatically improved his scores in each round, finishing with a 76.
Millersville travels to the Mercyhurst Invitational on Sept. 28-29.
