Millersville, Pa. - Four events into her collegiate career, Shannon Weber has won her first tournament. The freshman took first place at the Millersville Invitational with a six-over 78, which she had shot twice already this season. As a team, the Marauders tied for first with West Chester (332) but the Golden Rams won on a tiebreaker.
Danielle Freed was the next to finish for Millersville in fourth place overall with a career-low 83 (+11). Next was Jaimie Wharton in a tie for seventh with an 85 (+13) and Jennifer Gentry was the final Marauder in the top 10 in ninth with an 86 (+14). Kendal Olear placed 16th with a 93 (+21) as the last player who competed with the team.
Individually, Lauren Capoferri shot a career-low 95 (+23) to finish in 18th and Allison Wray turned in a personal-best 99 (+27) to place 20th overall. The final two Marauders to compete as individuals were Alexa Strong who finished in 24th with a 103 (+31) and Cara Geiger who placed 28th with a 116 (+44).
Next up, Millersville is in Littlestown, Pa. for the Gettysburg Invitational on Sunday.
