Jaimie Wharton Ties for 10th at Michael Corbett Fall Classic

Erie, Pa. - Jaimie Wharton notched the 14th top-10 finish of her career on Monday when she tied for 10th in the Michael Corbett Fall Classic. As a team, the Marauders placed 10th out of 18 teams and tallied their lowest total score in team history with a 666 (+90). In the second round, Millersville shot a 326 (+38), which is also a program record.
Wharton shot a 12-over 84 in round one and was tied for 32nd. On day two, she improved her score by 11 strokes to shoot a one-over 73 and achieve the top-10 placing. Both the 73 and 157 are career bests for the Mechanicsburg native and Millersville records.
Danielle Freed was also tied for 32nd after the first day and shot an 86 on Monday to finish in a tie for 41st (170). Freed's round-one score of 84 is a personal-best and so is her 36-hole 170.
Fresh off a top-five finish at the Evann Parker Memorial on Saturday, Shannon Weber turned in a 164 (+20) in Erie, which was good for a tie for 27th. Weber's score improved by eight strokes on Monday. Jennifer Gentry tied for 58th with a total of 175. Kendal Olear finished in a tie for 74th with a 180 which is her best 36-hole score ever and the Honey Brook native's 89 in round one ties her personal low as well.
Alexa Strong played as an individual to shoot a combined 181, which was tied for 77th.
Next up for Millersville is the Clarion Invitational on Sept. 21 and 22 at Clarion Oaks Golf Club.
