Millersville, Pa. - Brianna Andraos earned some more hardware on Tuesday with a Daktronics All-Atlantic Second Team nod after she had already been named PSAC East Pitcher of the Week three times and was most recently nominated to the All-PSAC East First Team.
Millersville's last player named to an all-region team was Kelly Fitzgerald in 2010 for the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division II All-Atlantic Region First Team. Daktronics hasn't recognized a Marauder since Janelle Mrakovich was on the Mid-Atlantic All-Region First Team in 2008.
Andraos entered this season as the Marauders' unquestioned ace and pitched like it in her sophomore season. The Malvern, Pa. native finished with a record of 14-13 in 31 appearances, 27 of which were starts and gave up 69 runs, 49 earned, through 173.1 innings pitched for a 1.98 ERA. She also moved into first place on the career chart for shutouts with 14.
The West Chester East prodcut was tied for the PSAC's lead in complete games (23) and was second in shutouts (8) while those eight shutouts were good for 14th in the country. The sophomore was fifth in the league in innings pitched (173.1), fifth in opponent's batting average (.224), tied for fifth in wins (14), sixth in ERA (1.98), and tied for eighth in strikeouts (90). All of that was accomplished by Andraos despite her facing the fifth-most at-bats of any pitcher in the PSAC with 648.
Andraos was no stranger to receiving conference honors this season as she was named PSAC East Pitcher of the Week three times. The first of which came on March 17 after the right-hander accumulated a record of 3-0 at the West Virginia Wesleyan Tournament with a miniscule ERA of 0.41 Those three wins were highlighed by a five-inning perfect game in the Black and Gold's 8-0 win over Franklin Pierce. She received the honor for a second time the very next week and the final time was on April 21.
"This just goes to show how much respect the sports information staffs have for Andraos and what she was able to do this season," said softball head coach Kathy Cummings.
