
Men's Golf Jumps One Spot for Fourth-Place Finish

Indiana, Pa. - The Millersville men's golf team posted its best 36-hole score of the season to finish fourth in a deep field at the Cecil C. Spadafora Invitational held at Chestnut Ridge Golf Course.
Millersville entered the day in a nine-way tie for fifth but broke free with a 295 total, which was the third-lowest score of the final round. Host Indiana (Pa.) took first place in the 19-team field with a 5-over-par 573. The Marauders' 21-over-par score was its best since winning the Mercyhurst Invitational in October of 2013 at 12-over-par. Senior Jonathon Heile, who finished in a tie for 14th at 5-over-par, matched the lowest two-round score of his Marauder career.
Only four players in the field posted a better final round than Heile, who was 1-over-par. Teammate Robby Rowe, who placed in a tie for 11th, shot rounds of 72 and 73 for a 3-over-par 145. Junior Conor Gilbert tied for 18th after shooting back-to-back rounds of 74. Kevin Davis shot a 5-over-par 76 on Monday after posting a 74 in the opening round.
IUP's Kenneth Sames won the individual title at 2-under-par. IUP's Max Kirsch, California's Jordan Eck and Adelphi's Ryan Snouffer finished in a tie for second.
The Cecil C. Spadafora Invitational was Millersville's final event against the competition it will face at the NCAA Atlantic/East Super Regional from May 5-7. The Marauders play a tune-up round on April 23 in the Messiah Invitational. The Marauders are guaranteed their second consecutive trip to the super regional after winning the PSAC Championship in October.
