
Track and Field Wins Five More Events on Day Two at West Chester

West Chester, Pa. - On day two of the West Chester Invitational, the Millersville women's track and field team won eight events and took home the top two or three spots in three of those while Erin Madison made it three NCAA provisional marks for the Marauders. Millersville had already won the hammer throw, the 4x400 meter relay and the pole vault on Friday night.
On day one, the Marauders took seven of the top 10 places in the hammer throw capped off by Vanessa Hower's school record toss of 52.49 meters in first place and Ann Kovacs' NCAA provisional toss of 51.61 meters in second place. Kayla Naughton, Megan Meyer, Erin Mason, and Erin Madison won the 4x400 (3:52.87) while Katherine Geating was the best of the pole vaulters (2.90 meters) with Carley Ott finishing in third for that event (2.60 meters).
Moving on to Saturday afternoon, Kiara Allen and Erin Mason went one-two in both the 100 meter and 200 meter dash. In the 100, Allen crossed the finished line with a time of 12.20 and Mason was clocked in at 12.59. Allen won the 200 with a time of 25.54 and Mason was right behind her again at 25.66. Aniya Gibbs placed seventh in the 200 with a time of 26.85.
Erin Madison's NCAA provisional mark came in the 400 meter hurdles that she won after a time of 1:02.08 and she also placed second in the 100 meter hurdles (15.10). Millersville has already had Vanessa Hower and Ann Kovacs set NCAA provisional marks in the hammer throw.
In the 400 meter dash, Brittney Martin finished in fourth with a time of 1:00.18, but more importantly, qualified for the PSAC Championship with that mark. Gibbs placed sixth in the 400 and was clocked at 1:00.99. Megan Meyer also qualified for PSAC's by winning the 800 meter run in 2:19.01. Judith Costa I Iracheta finished in seventh for the 800 at 2:33.97.
Olivia Misner had the best throw in the javelin with a distance of 37.90 meters. In the Heptathlon, Arianna Camel finished second with 3,990 points and it was her first time ever competing in the event. There were six Marauders in the 1500 meter run and all of them set personal record times. That list included Amanda Long (fifth), Shannon Cruz (sixth), Abigail Daley (ninth), Megan O'Neill (10th), Samantha Martin (30th), and Victoria Carroll (36th).
Taylour Mauro crossed the finish line in eighth place for the 5000 meter run (22:00.17).
For field events, Jess Fritsche's long jump of 4.84 meters was good for third and Kelli Farris placed sixth in the shot put with a distance of 10.37 meters. In the discus, Hower finished in third (34.66 meters), Rebecca Grube was fifth (33.64 meters) and Kelly Kardos was eighth (29.39 meters).
