Box Score Winston-Salem, N.C. - Millersville baseball erased a three-run deficit with a three-run sixth inning, and
Kurt Seiders and
Zach Stone provided clutch RBIs in the eighth to help the Marauders to a 6-4 win over Winston-Salem State Sunday afternoon in the series finale.
Millersville (2-1) out-hit the Rams (1-5) 15-6 and every player in the lineup reached base at least once.
Tyler McDonald went 4-for-5 for his second career four-hit game.
Dan Johnson doubled twice.
Mark Stuckey had two hits for the second straight game. Seiders and
Chas McCormick also had two hits apiece. Each of the first five hitters in the lineup had a RBI.
Freshman
Brandon Miller (1-0) turned in an impressive collegiate debut. He enter in relief in the sixth inning and blanked the Rams over the next four innings, allowing just one hit, one walk and fanning five.
The first of Johnson's two doubles came in the first inning and pushed Seiders across home plate for the first score of the game. The Rams, however, tied the game in the third, and a hit batsman and two walks paved the way to a three-run fifth inning off of starter
Jim McDade.
Millersville retaliated in the top of the next inning. Johnson led off with a double, and
Dan Stoltzfus singled him home. After a McDonald single, Stoltzfus scored on a Ram fielding error. McCormick walked to load the bases, and
Tyler Orris drew a walk to push home the tying run. Millersville, however, left the bases loaded and the go-ahead run on third base.
Miller kept the Rams off of the board, allowing the Marauders to take the lead in the eighth. Seiders delivered a bases-loaded sacrifice fly, and Stone followed with a single and his first RBI of the 2014 season.
Miller made the two-run lead hold. He sat down the Rams in order in the eighth and allowed only one single in the ninth to notch the first win of his career.
Millersville totaled 29 hits in the final two games of the series. Stone and Stoltzfus produced at least one hit in all three games. Stone now stands just four hits shy of 200 for his career.
The Marauders play a pair of doubleheaders at Chowan on Feb. 15 and 16.
