
MU Track and Field Preps for PSAC's by Dominating Susquehanna

Susquehanna, Pa. - The Millersville track and field team used its last chance to prepare for the PSAC Championships to the fullest by placing in the top five in eight different events on Saturday at the Susquehanna Invitational.
The Marauders had three different athletes qualify for the PSAC Championships in the 400-meter dash. Sophomore Kayla Naughton won the event with a time of 59.01 and teammates Megan Meyer and Aniya Gibbs placed fourth and sixth, respectively. All three met the conference standard and will represent the Marauders at the conference meet next weekend.
Sophomore Amanda Long picked up a new PSAC qualifying time for Millersville in the 800-meter run. Long finished fourth in the event with a time of 2:25.37.
In the 4x200-meter relay the quartet of Kiara Allen, Erin Mason, Erin Madison, and Naughton ran away from the competition and into the top spot. The foursome's time of 1:46.92 easily won the event and was the second fastest time in Millersville history.
Sophomore Erin Madison continued her impressive winter by winning the 60-meter high hurdles with a finish of 9.35 in the finals. Fellow high hurdler Arianna Camel competed in the high jump and took the runner-up position by vaulting over the bar at 1.57 meters. Camel also finished fifth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.09.
Millersville had a top-five finish in the pole vault courtesy of freshman Jessica White. White cleared the bar at 2.75 meters and ended the meet with a fifth place result. Classmate Katherine Geating took eighth with a height of 2.60 meters.
Ann Kovacs led three Marauders in the weight throw by tossing the weight 13.16 meters, good for a fifth place distance. Freshman Rebecca Grube took 12th with a distance of 11.25 meters and Kelly Kardos placed 24th.
In the shot put Kelli Farris nearly got into the top-10 with her launch of 10.08 meters. Her toss placed her 12th amongst her competitors and it was her fourth best throw this season.
The Millersville track and field team now has one week to prepare for the PSAC Championships. The conference championships take place on March 1 and 2 at Bucknell University. Stay tuned to millersvilleathletics.com for a preview on the PSAC Championships.
