Lewisburg, Pa. - The Millersville women's track and field team earned All-PSAC accolades in three different events on Sunday at the PSAC Indoor Championships. The Marauders totaled 47 points and finished sixth overall for their best team finish since 2008.
In total, Millersville had eight different athletes earn All-PSAC honors--the most ever for the program--and placed in the top three in four different events overall. The 47 team points are the most that the Black and Gold have accumulated in five years and total the fourth most in school history at the indoor conference championships.
During Sunday's finals Millersville had two individuals earn all-conference accolades and the 4x400-meter relay team also earned the honor by finishing in the top-three. The relay team of Megan Meyer, Erin Mason, Erin Madison, and Kayla Naughton rebroke their own school record with an NCAA provisional time of 3:55.60.
Mason also competed in the 200-meter dash finals and earned her first career individual All-PSAC honor when she placed third. The sophomore ran the event in 25.69 to solidify her second best time in school history.
In the 60-meter dash Millersville had two athletes place in the top-six. Sophomore Kiara Allen garnered her first ever All-PSAC finish when she crossed the finish line second overall in a time of 7.80. Allen's all-conference race was the Marauders first in a short distance sprinting event since Christina Carpenter in 2004. Mason finished in sixth place with a time of 7.96.
The Black and Gold just missed out on another All-PSAC performance in the 60-meter high hurdles. Freshman Arianna Camel was .04 seconds away from an all-conference award when she placed fourth in the event with a time of 9.11. Teammate Erin Madison finished seventh when she crossed the finish line at 9.21.
Madison also ran in the 400-meter dash and could not replicate her All-PSAC run from a year ago. Madison placed sixth with a time of 58.48 while classmate Kayla Naughton took fifth in 58.10.
The final event that the Marauders competed in was the 800-meter run. Junior Brittney Martin ran the race in 2:20.93, her fastest time this year, and ended with a seventh place result.
Allen (60-meter dash) and the 4x400-relay team will now await to see if their NCAA provisional times have qualified them for the NCAA Indoor Championships later in March. The outdoor track and field season will begin on March 21-22 at the Shamrock Invitational in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
