MATCH NOTES
• Millersville and local rival Frankin & Marshall meet in the Battle for the Rupp Cup, and Millersville is aiming to end F&M's three-year hold on the trophy. Millersville won seven in a row from 2004-2010. Millersvile has not scored more than 13 in any of the three recent losses.
• No player in the Millersville's 2014 lineup won a match in last season's dual and no member of this year's team has ever earned a win against F&M. Millersville, however, is a young team with only two seniors in the starting lineup. The Marauders also start three freshmen and three sophomores.
• The freshmen have been impressive for the Marauders, especially 197-pound
Aram Moffitt. Moffitt has a team-leading 17-12 record and is ranked No. 6 in Super Region 1. Moffitt needs one more win to match the most wins by a Marauder freshman since Mike Greck won 18 in 2006. 125-pound
Austin Camacci has 11 wins and is 5-5 in duals.
• Sophomore
David Charles is having a breakthrough season. Ranked No. 4 in Super Region 1, Charles owns a 15-12 record and a 7-4 mark in duals. He also leads the team with seven major decisions. He is 7-3 over his last 10 duals. The 141-pound match may just be the best match-up of the night. F&M's Richard Durso is ranked No. 11 in Division I. He is an impressive 28-2 and defeated Charles by a 12-2 major decision in last year's Battle for the Rupp Cup.
• Millersville has not wrestled since its 24-12 win over Lycoming on Feb. 8. That win put an end to a three-dual losing streak. The Marauders are 4-7, but a win over F&M would give them their most dual wins in a season since going 9-8 in 2008-09.
SCOUTING F&M
• Durso isn't the only Diplomat having an outstanding season. 125-pound freshman Jason Bing owns a 19-14 record and 157-pound Andrew Murano is 22-10. Six wrestlers have winning records. Four of F&M's six dual victories came in a two-day span in January. Three of them came at the Millersville hosted Mid-Penn Duals. F&M took first place in the event while Millersville was eliminated after two duals.
ABOUT THE RUPP CUP
• The Rupp Cup is named in the honor of the late Dr. Ted Rupp, who made a significant impact on both programs. Rupp graduated from F&M in 1935 and coached wrestling from 1936-43. After returning from service in World War II, Rupp was hired to teach at Millersville. In 1947, he started the wrestling program and posted a 71-18-2 record in 11 years as the head coach. Rupp was a professor in French and Spanish at Millersville and the chair of the department of foreign languages until he retired in 1979. Rupp passed away on Feb. 11, 2010.
