Wrestling Stays Unbeaten in Dual Action

Springfield, Mass. - The Millersville wrestling team stayed unbeaten in its dual competitions, improving to 4-0 with Friday's 32-7 victory at American International. Millersville wrestlers won eight of the 10 bouts, including three by major decision, one by technical fall and one by fall.

Millersville (4-0) built a 12-0 lead with wins in each of the first three weight classes. The 4-0 start is Millersville's best since starting the 2000-01 season 7-0 under Floyd "Shorty" Hitchcock The last time Millersville won four consecutive duals at any point in the season was 2007-08.

Austin Camacci started the dual with a 7-0 win over Stephen Pace at 125 pounds, improving his season record to 4-0 in dual matches. Zach Clingan scored the first dual win of his career by defeated Zac Ziobrio by a 15-3 major decision. D.J. Mele, seeing his first dual competition, won his third match of the season by a 13-2 major decision at 141 pounds. With usual 149-pound starter Nico Demetrio out of the lineup, Thomas Nulty bumped up a weight class from his usual 141, where he posted a 7-3 record so far this season. Nulty, however, was edged by Simeon Everett in an 11-8 decision.

Freshman 157-pounder Shane Ruhnke provided Millersville with some bonus points and continued his impressive freshman campaign, improving his record to 9-1 and scoring his second technical fall of the season in a 16-1 rout of Brandon Walsh. Freshman 165-pounder Ian Shannon notched his ninth win with a 10-4 decision over P.J. Baker. Freshman Kyle Narber registered Millersville's lone pin of the day and his fourth of the season at 184 pounds. His pin of Adrian Oceguera came early in the third period at the 6:04 mark. At 197 pounds, Aram Moffitt put a stop to his three-match losing streak with a 6-3 win over Sheldon Rhoden. Freshman David Wuestner capped the win by edging Iarik Loschinin by a 9-8 score at 285 pounds.

Milersville next makes a quick trip to Franklin & Marshall for the F&M Open on Jan. 3.
