GAME OVERVIEW
• Millersville returns to Chryst Field at Biemesderfer Stadium in search of its first win against an East Stroudsburg club that has won four in a row and has scored 40-plus points four times this season. The Warriors own the PSAC's top-ranked passing offense at 367 yards per game and ranks third in scoring offense at 41.3 points per game. Millersville, meanwhile, has struggled to score points in recent weeks, having managed just two touchdowns in the last three games. The Marauders have faced a brutally difficult stretch of games. Including East Stroudsburg's 5-1 record, Millersville's last five opponents own a combined 25-5 record and three were nationally-ranked.
• Millersville looks to get its offense untracked. It piled up 503 yards of offense in the season opener but has not cracked 300 yards of offense since. The Marauders also turned the ball over just six times in the first four games (including zero in two of the games) while generating nine turnovers on defense and special teams. But in the last two games, Millersville has committed eight turnovers while generating one.
SERIES HISTORY
• East Stroudsburg holds a 39-25-1 advantage in the all-time series. Overall, ESU has won 11 of the last 13 meetings and has scored 62 or more points in three of the last four. Since 1968, Millersville is 22-20-1 in Homecoming games. East Stroudsburg has served as Homecoming opponent 13 times--more than any other team. The Homecoming game series with East Stroudsburg is split evenly at 6-6-1.
SCOUTING THE WARRIORS
• Head coach Denny Douds is looking for his 250th career victory and is one win away from becoming the 20th coach in NCAA history and just the third in Division II history to reach the milestone. Douds' offense is potent with former PSAC East Freshman of the Year and All-PSAC East Second Team pick Matt Soltes at quarterback. Soltes ranks third in Division II in passing yards per game and is second in touchdown passes with 24. Running back Robert Healy is a dual-threat player, leading the team in rushing yards (501) and ranking second in receiving yards (381). Defensively, Brandon Gattelli leads the PSAC with 8.5 sacks. Teron Dobbs in the league leader in interceptions with five.
EARLY IMPACT
• Coach Greg Breitbach's first recruiting class is certainly making a positive impact right away. Wide receivers Kevin Wiggins and Malont'a Patterson lead the team in receptions and touchdowns and both players have generated at least one play of more than 40 yards. Last week against Bloomsburg, running back Phil Vass made his collegiate debut and led the team with 52 yards on 11 carries. On defense, freshman outside linebacker Logan Kinser ranks fourth on the team with 31 tackles. Sene Polamalu (19) and Byron Ragland (15) have also been active from the linebacker spot.
INSIDE JOB
• Senior inside linebacker Reggie Slaton is the Marauders' most productive defender, piling up 67 tackles, which ranks second in the PSAC and 24th in Division II. He recorded a career-high of 15 in the season opener and has since totaled double-digit stops in five of six games. He is on pace to finish with 123 tackles, which would be the most by a Marauder since Tim Naylor's 148 in 1992. Since 1997, only two players--Lee Rizzotto and Braden Steffy--have totaled 100 tackles in a season.
SANELLI'S STREAK
• Center Lenny Sanelli is becoming Millersville's Iron Man. He has started all 28 games since stepping on campus as a freshman in 2011. He started at tackle during his first season and moved to center as a sophomore. He has started 17 consecutive games at center.
JUST FOR THE RECORD
• David Coates has already set Millersville career records for return yards and return attempts in a season and a career. Coates leads all NCAA football players regardless of Division in total kickoff return yards (2,868) and kickoff returns (130). He ranks fourth in all divisions and first in Division II in yards per game (73.5). He is the only Division II player ranked in the top 25. Coates now needs only seven kick returns to set the all-time Division II record and is 397 yards away from snapping the career record of 3,265 set by Fairmont State's Zack Page from 207-10.
