
Marauders Dominate at Golden Bear Invitational

Results
Kutztown, Pa. - Sophomore Erin Madison paced the Millersville indoor track and field team with a first-place finish at the Golden Bear Invitational, leading many strong performances from the team on Friday night.
Madison finished in the top spot in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.54, which was the second fastest in school history. The sophomore also finished fifth in the 800-meter run, crossing the finish line at 2:34.85. Classmate Kayla Naughton finished with a seventh place result in the 800-hurdles with a time of 2:35.55.
The Marauders' best overall event was the one-mile run. Millersville had six of the top 10 finishers and two runners place in the top five. Megan Meyer ran the event in 5:36.42 and had the team's best finish with a fourth place result. Amanda Long crossed the line in fifth and Brittney Martin, Abbey Daley, Shannon Cruz, and Megan O'Neill finished in seventh, eighth, ninth, and 10th, respectively.
Meyer, Long, Martin, and Daley teamed up to compete in the 4x800-meter relay and zoomed to a top time of 10:06.20, finishing seven seconds faster than the closest team.
Junior Kiara Allen led three Marauders to top five finishes in the 55-meter dash. Allen took second with a time of 7.27--the second fastest time in school history. Erin Mason was third in 7.47, and Kayla Naughton was fourth in 7.59. Mason and Allen also competed in the 400-meter dash. Mason's time of 1:02.26 was the second best of the meet and Allen placed sixth in 1:06.18.
In the throwing events Nicole Sokira and Kelli Farris tossed their way into top finishes. In the weight throw Sokira had the second best launch at the meet and the second best in Millersville history with a distance of 14.12 meters. Farris placed fourth in the weight throw and 12th in the shot put.
In the other field events freshman Arianna Camel tied for second place in the high jump and Katherine Geating and Jessica White finished 10th and 11th in the pole vault, respectively.
Millersville competes in the Coach I Open next Friday at Franklin & Marshall. The meet is set to begin at 4 p.m.
