
Wharton's Career-Low Round Leads Marauders at Clarion Invitational

Clarion, Pa. - Led by Jaimie Wharton's career-low score in the second round, the Millersville women's golf team placed 12th at the two-day Clarion Invitational.
The Marauders were without the services of top player Amber Rohrer, but Wharton filled in admirably. After an opening round 89, Wharton fired a 9-over-par 81 in the second round to finish in 20th place.
The team opened with a 390 and improved by 13 strokes in the second round to finish with a 767 total. Millersville was 12th in a 14-team field and finished ahead of PSAC schools East Stroudsburg and Seton Hill.
All five Marauders improved their scores in the second round. Freshman Danielle Freed shot rounds of 96 and 95 to finish in a tie for 59th. Kendal Olear tied for 62nd, Allison Wray placed 68th and Cara Geiger took 73rd.
Gannon took the team title with a 655 team score. Seton Hill's Emily Hassey took first place in the individual race after shooting rounds of 76 and 78.
Millersville returns to action on Oct. 5 at the Kutztown Invitational.
