
Women's Golf Notches Third-Place Finish at Kutztown Invitational

Kutztown, Pa. - The Millersville women's golf team used identical first and second round scores to place third at the Kutztown Fall Invitational held at Berkleigh Golf Club. Amber Rohrer finished as the runner-up and Jaimie Wharton tied for third.
Millersville posted back-to-back rounds of 355 to finish just two shots behind second-place West Chester. Kutztown took the team title with a 673.
Rohrer fired a 12-over-par 84 in the opening round and stood just one shot off the lead entering the final round on Sunday. She bettered her score by one stroke but Kutztown's Madison Houseal was three shots lower and edged Rohrer for medalist honors by four (167-163). Rohrer has finished in second place in both tournaments she has played this season.
For the second consecutive tournament, Wharton matched her career-best round. She opened with an 87 but stormed back in the second round with a 9-over-par 81, which was was the second-lowest round of the tournament. Her 168 total landed her in a three-way tie for third and five shots behind Houseal.
Freshman Danielle Freed also had a breakthrough performance, posting a career-low round of 89 on the first day of play. She finished with an 184 total and in 19th place among 41 golfers. Kendal Olear notched her second top-25 finish of the season by placing 24th after rounds of 95 and 96. Allison Wray placed 32nd and Kara Gieger landed in 39th.
Millersville has a quick turnaround, playing in the Gettysburg Invitational in Hershey on Tuesday.
