
Women's Golf Wins Dickinson Invitational for First-Ever Team Crown

Harrisburg, Pa. - The 2013-14 season could not have started any better for the Millersville women's golf team. Led by senior Amber Rohrer, the Marauders won the Dickinson Invitational for the first team title in the program's five-year history.
Since play started in 2009, the Marauder women have played in 32 tournaments. It finally broke through with a team score of 351 at Blue Ridge Country Club in Harrisburg Saturday. Millersville and Gettysburg shot the same team score, the Marauders earned first place on a match of cards. Washington Lee and McDaniel finished a distant 28 strokes behind.
Rohrer, the program's lone senior and most decorated player, fired an 81 and just missed her personal best round by one shot. She finished as the tournament's runner-up. Roher was one of three Marauders to crack the top 10.
Sophomore Jaimie Wharton shot an 86 and placed fourth. Kendal Olear turned in an 89 to place sixth. Freshman Danielle Freed received her first taste of collegiate golf and shot an 95.
Millersville has now finished in the top three in each of the last three events it has played dating back to last season. It now heads to Clarion for a two-day tournament on Sept. 22-23.
