
Men's Golf Opens Spring at St. James Plantation Invitational

Southport, N.C. - The Millersville men's golf team opened the spring season by tying for fifth in a field of 11 at the St. James Plantation Invitational this weekend.
The Marauders totaled a 314 on day one and a 311 on day two for a 49-over-par that tied with Atlantic Region foe Concord. Placing ahead of Millersville was host Indiana (Pa.), which shot a 7-over-par 583. California (Pa.) placed second at 28-over, St. Thomas Aquinas took third at 30-over and West Chester placed fourth at 39-over.
Millersville's top individual was newcomer Robby Rowe, who tied for 13th at 8-over-par. Rowe spent the fall at Wingate and joined the Marauder roster for the spring. He opened with a 6-over-par 78 but rallied on day two with a 74. California's Charlie Durman shot rounds of 71 and 69 to take first place at 4-under-par. The next three golfers all belonged to IUP.
Conor Gilbert and Jon Heile both tied for 30th at 13-over-par. Kevin Davis tied for 40th in the 73-player field with a two-round total of 17-over-par. Robert Coyne and Rodney Anders tied for 44th.
Millersville has a quick turnaround, traveling from North Carolina back to Pennsylvania to compete in the Eastern University Invitational Monday. The Marauders are the defending team champions.
