Marauders Heat Up in Second Half to Outlast Warriors

Box Score Millersville, Pa. – The Millersville women's basketball team outscored East Stroudsburg 45-29 in the second half and converted 27-of-30 free throw attempts on the game to outlast the Warriors 75-64 on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Marauders improved to 4-3 on the season including 2-1 in PSAC East play thanks to a bench that outscored East Stroudsburg's 33-13. The Warriors fell to 4-3 overall and 2-2 in the conference after they managed to shoot just 27.6 percent (8-of-29) from the field in the second half.
 
Senada Mehmedovic led Millersville in the scoring column for a third consecutive game with a season-high 20 points to go with four rebounds and one assist. Mehmedovic was a perfect 7-of-7 from the free throw line and 5-of-6 from the field including 3-for-3 from behind the arc. The team's lone senior has scored 38 points in her last two games and is 7-of-12 from 3-point land during that span.
 
After not scoring in the first half, Carly Gallagher finished with 10 points, six boards, five assists, and one block. Sabina Mehmedovic turned in nine points off the bench while Alexis Martin and Lexi Scrivano each dropped eight points apiece.
 
East Stroudsburg led by as many as 13, 49-36, with just under 12 minutes to play in the second half before the Marauders began their second half comeback. Millersville did so with a 20-7 run that was fueled by six points from Lexi Scrivano, five from Senada Mehmedovic and a trey by Carly Gallagher to tie the game at 56-56 and force a timeout by the Warriors. Gallagher had not made a shot from the field prior to that triple.
 
The Marauders scored 19 of the final 27 points on route to a 75-64 come from behind victory.
 
East Stroudsburg controlled the first half by shooting 55.2 percent (16-of-29) from the field and led 35-30 heading into the intermission. For the game, Millersville outrebounded its guest 33-27 including 25-15 on the defensive glass.
 
The Marauders will travel to IUP and Seton Hill on Dec. 17 and 18, respectively. Both of those games will begin at 5:30 p.m.
