Millersville, Pa. - The Millersville field hockey team is joining the "Play4theCure" movement and raising breast cancer awareness during their Oct. 9 matchup against the Lakers of Mercyhurst University.
"Play4theCure" is a run by a network of field hockey coaches and players committed to raising funds for the National Fundation for Cancer Research. The organization encourages players to "Play Pink" by wearing pink uniforms and accessories. Fans are also asked to support the cause by wearing pink to the game.
Millersville plans to sell pink Marauders t-shirts and pink wristbands with 100 percent of the profits going towards the cause. The wristbands are provided by Longstreth and are $2 each.
The team has also setup a web site for fans that would like to donate but cannot make it to the Oct. 9 game: www.firstgiving.com/fundraiser/mufieldhockey/pftc.
Fans can also like Play4theCure on Facebook and follow it on Instagram.
Game time against Mercyhurst is set for 4 p.m.Â
